Well, the darker your skin is, the bolder your shade should be. So if you are very pale, you should use lighter colors. Go with whichever is lightest. Or just do what you feel in the mood for. It's really up to you and what you want. Have a little fun mixing up colors and seeing what looks best. :-)

hi there, i have had natural long nails since your age and i just want you to know if you take this route you will be very upset when one breaks, you will even consider yourself clumsy. it takes a graceful person with hardly anything physical(handwise) to do. i was a ballarina for most my youth so this is what i spent 6 + hours a day doing, not out with friends going to parties getting my nails broken because i opened a can beer without an opener or boyfriend doesn't open the door for you. the list goes on and on. One more thing in life to worry about and to be pisst about. but wait the good news, long nails are easy to grow, if you always concentrate on them. imagine thinking about your nails all day! when you reach about 20 or so, 8 yrs thinking about your nails it will be second nature hence you no doughtfully will be very graceful as well. long beautiful nails take alot of care, not from a nail lady but from you. i would never dream of letting anyone touch my nails with a emery board. i drink lots of water, eat right, vitamines, hands are always very nourished with oils and lotions, i wear special gloves when ever at home and every evening i put a clear coat on. having long beautiful nails requires products, just like long beautiful hair. the good news is how wonderful my hands look compaired to everyone elses. men automatically treat you different, like a lady. but you don't need long nails for that if you are a true lady, right?

My advice is: You just try to be yourself. Ask your parents to justify why they want you to be out for jut being a punk. Listen to what they say and talk to them when they are already cooled down. Its always weird when they talk when they still feel the madness in them.
I know they care for you, just tell them to support what you are happy about. If they don't, just obey the rules and wait for the right time you could do it. Either when you are independent already or when your are out from home.

Alright I need to cut my dogs nails! My husband has been taking extra hours at work, and hes usually the one who does it! ( or the vet) However, I'd really like to do it myself!....Problem is I can only see the quick on half of them! Half are black, half are clear....how do I know where to cut on the black ones? I suggest going to the vet and asking them to show you how to do it. I work at a vet and we have people come in all the time to learn how. They may charge your for a nail trim, but then you will know how to do it! The pedi-paw is a great idea, but I have found that it takes too long for the dogs, and they usually hate the noise. It's also not very powerful. If you do choose to use a grinder like the pedi-paw, make sure to realize that they CAN get to the quick, as its all about how far you grind them down. Think about whether you would like a quick nail trim or a drawn out one. Either way, it will take some practice. Good luck!Im too scared to cut my dogs nails!!!?
Get a dremel sander, either corded or not and grind the nails. Its much safer anyways. You could spend a lot on that guillotine type cutter that tells you if you are near the quick, but might as well just get a dremel.
Don't waste you're money on the pedipaws it does not work, one it does not have enough power and two the dust trap is essentially crap. My parents got one and I was seriously displeased, now im just gonna use it on my younger puppies to get them used to sanders.

I suggest going to the vet and asking them to show you how to do it. I work at a vet and we have people come in all the time to learn how. They may charge your for a nail trim, but then you will know how to do it! The pedi-paw is a great idea, but I have found that it takes too long for the dogs, and they usually hate the noise. It's also not very powerful. If you do choose to use a grinder like the pedi-paw, make sure to realize that they CAN get to the quick, as its all about how far you grind them down. Think about whether you would like a quick nail trim or a drawn out one. Either way, it will take some practice. Good luck!Im too scared to cut my dogs nails!!!?
Get a dremel sander, either corded or not and grind the nails. Its much safer anyways. You could spend a lot on that guillotine type cutter that tells you if you are near the quick, but might as well just get a dremel.
Don't waste you're money on the pedipaws it does not work, one it does not have enough power and two the dust trap is essentially crap. My parents got one and I was seriously displeased, now im just gonna use it on my younger puppies to get them used to sanders.
You can ask your husband or the vet to show you... Or if you have enough money to buy a new trimmer, Pedi Paws is designed to not touch the quick...

I'm 26 and still a chronic nail biter. A few things that I found to help at various points in my life were:
- acrylic nails (can't bite em when they're covered up)
- keeping a coat of nail polish on at all times ( less likely to bite em when they look nice)
- reward yourself with a manicure once you grow them long enough, usually after a couple weeks of keeping the nail polish on
- keep your hands in your pockets when you're just standing around

I have been biting my nails my whole life and i'm 22. I just started to get my nails done (acrylics) because they are too hard to bite. After getting them done a few months in a row, i took them off and didnt bite my nails anymore since i was out of habit. I just hate the feel of long nails so i started biting them again because i wanted to, not out of habit.
ive been compulsively biting my nails ever since i was little. usually id do it when i was bored or stressed. once i solved these problems, the biting was gone. i would also paint your nails with that gross tasting nail polish, or if you need a quicker solution, regular polish (this works for the first few days after painting them, i liked the way my nails looked when they didnt have any chips in them, and i didnt want to mess them up by biting them).

i had the same prob. but i only bit them because i dont like em long but as of one week today i havent bit them. i have decided to grow them out. what i would suggest is that you either paint them or everyday in the morning dunk em in nail polish remover and through out the day. that way when u go to bit them it tastes HORRIBLE!!!! haa,
or you could try this base coat that stays bitter and nasty all the time so you dont bit them, its call orly no bite deterrent, i put the link down below. i would higly reccomend it!

BLUE FINGERNAIL BEDS? My son is 6, his nails are blue, lack of oxygen? Im concerned. Any ideas why?
He feels fine, earlier said he had a stomachache, but playing %26amp; fine. A little background, he has had asthma since 2, many daily meds, BUT in December all meds were taken away, crazy he has been fine ever since. More than fine. No episodes, attacks, healthy. laways in the back of my mind, will it come back. He has his bad month(October) so I am awaiting that. Dr. says take it day at a time, if it comes back, will treat again. Anyways
TODAYS PROBLEM: his nails are blue, i right away think hes not breathing well. I call Dr. immediately, the nurse is not concerned. She says with no other symptoms could be many htings, even a virus--(i never heard of a virus making blue fingernails) So nurse says monitor him, any other symptoms, they are there 7 days a week. SO what do you think? I am concerned, pediatric nurse not, 1 neighbor says looks strange, no blue lips, eyes, fine, no labored breathing. Depends on what your wearing. If your wearing more than one color try to make the less noticeable pop! If your wearing one color then paint them that color. If you bite your nails, spray the nails with pepper spray. This will automatically prevent you from biting your nails further. More cheap and natural remedies for nail care at the link provided.
There is nothing you can do to change the rate of nail growth. If it took a month to grow two millimeters last time, it will take a month to grow two millimeters next time.
I would personally suggest getting some thumb sucking/nail biting treatment from your local pharmacy to stop you from putting them in your mouth. I also suggest prenatal vitamins and/or extra calcium in pill form along with orange juice to help you digest the calcium in order to help your nails become stronger.
u can go to any nails shop or beauty supplies (sally)and ask for the nails strengthener.called NAIL TEK..cost u bout 10-15 dllrs...it would help ur nails grow out stronger and faster,apply it on b4 u go to bed everynite , it will work.

If I were you I would get them all filled and have them cut down the tip on your pinkie nail and start fresh with a new tip.. It will look just like the other nails and make you happy again. A repair usually costs $3 to $5 a nail on top of the fill. sometimes the tech will fix it for free..

I heard UV nails/Gel nails (i think they are the same) are WAY better then the acrilic. I been searching for Nail Salons where to get done UV Nails/Gel nails or Solar nails and I can't seem to find any in Los angeles...

Gel nails, that is the real gel, is a polymer product that ';cures';, hardens in a UV light. They are related to the bonding material used in dentistry.
The advantage over acrylic nails is that they are clear, flexible and do not use a primer. That advantage is lost when the
manicurist over preps the nails, that is uses an electric filer or even hand files or uses a file that is unnecessarily coarse and removes too many layers (unnecessarily) of your natural nail before applying the nails or during a fill.
Solar is a brand, also know as CN, ';creative nail'; and they make a very good quality acrylic. Their gel is called Brisa.
If your nails are naturally thin though, you may always need to add tips to keep the gel adhering to the edges. Gels tend to peel away from the tips of thin nails.
Look for someone who files by hand when they file on the natural nail for either your gels or acrylic. There are still a few around.
When you have thin nails is it so much easier with coatings, saves all that time messing with chipped polish and broken edges, but they need to be careful to not file anymore than is needed, doing this may reduce adhesion a bit, but is healthier and will leave a foundation to work with. It may cost a bit more (takes more time) but would probably give you the best results and would avoid having product soak into the porous layers of your nail and into the nail bed.

I was a nail biter as well. Go get your nails done. As soon as I started getting my nails done professionally there was no way I could bite my fingernails. Now I get my nails done all the time because it makes me feel pretty and I don't bite them. You won't want to bite your nails after you've paid that money to have them look nice.
Play a game with yourself and challenge your self to not bite your nails for 1 day and reward yourself (not by biting your nails), with something you wouldn't normally do for yourself. You don't say how old you are, but I am going to tell you two reason's my wife had migraines at a young age, no make that three. First and foremost was birthday control pills. When I had her change the brand from what she was taking, the headaches went away. Later on, a few years later, she started again. I had her go to the Doctors and have a pap smear and her female hormones levels checked. They were low, When that was taken care of, the headaches went away. Then on day she decided to quit drinking Coke Cola. She started with bad headaches, not migraines, but almost. I went to the store. bought her some Coke Cola, gave her a can or two, and the headaches went away. I was an EMT and at the time was studying to be a Paramedic. I read a lot of medical books and learned about medicines and the like, is why I had some knowledge of her conditions. I don't know if any of these things would apply to you, but if they do, you might try what my wife did. At times she would hurt so much that she became nauseated, and have to lay in bed to get relief. I don't believe it is a tumor, I tend to agree with your Doctor, but am surprised the Doctor didn't suggest some testing to make sure. I wish for you the very best young lady and hope you find what's causing these awful headaches, but nothing serious. Good Luck. Its really hard to stop ive tried over 10 times but nothing works! ive used the nail polish stuff that tastes really gross (like ear wax) and that didn't work!!! like sushmita said....u cn get manicure treatment!!!but i personally would suggest you to apply NAIL ART.u cn get it done from a gud nail art salon. this would make ur nails look uber cool and nobody wud like to spoil a design whn ur nails r luking beautiful.

like sushmita said....u cn get manicure treatment!!!but i personally would suggest you to apply NAIL ART.u cn get it done from a gud nail art salon. this would make ur nails look uber cool and nobody wud like to spoil a design whn ur nails r luking beautiful.
so the designs on ur nail would remind you evrytime not to bite it.
Just chew gum everytime you want to chew your nails. Also think about how disgusting chewed up nails appear to other people and the hygene problems.

Okay, im painting my nails today, what color?
im 13, i have short crappy nails, so i like dark colors they make them look cooler.... i cant do black even though i want to... ive had them red forever!.... okay here are the colors i have to pick from...

copper
sandalwood frost (purple ish)
very cherry (dark red/purple ish)
and light pink... which i dont do
my toenails are red, but that doesnt matter, i need a new color for my fingernails, they have been red for like a monthOkay, im painting my nails today, what color?

A months kinda LONG to be wearing the same color =D.. maybe you should switch them up by trying them ALL for two weeks or so .. who KNOWS pink might grow on you!

Don't paint them. You dont need to pulled in to feeling that you need cover up or make up to make yourself beautiful. You're a beautiful person as you are theres no need for additions. :)

If you have ever seen people who grow their nails for years and years, they naturally grow downward and sometimes in a pig tail swirly style. It's kinda cool. You are lucky to have strong nails. Mine have always been thin and brittle.

So its my first time getting fake nails tomorrow and im sorta scared! haha..ive always wanted them...But im just going to get a full set...but i was wondering does it cost more if you want a silver strip in between them? and does it hurt? also do i have to soak my hands in anything because i have this wart on the back of my thumb and i got it froze tuesday and it still sorta hurts and its puffy i was wondering if me getting my nails done would bother it...Thanks alot!Im getting fake nails tomorrow help?

If your getting a manicure, than yes they might soak your hands and massage them... You can just say you want the set if you don't want that and just the nails though.

I've seen my mom get her nails done like sooo many times.

So its my first time getting fake nails tomorrow and im sorta scared! haha..ive always wanted them...But im just going to get a full set...but i was wondering does it cost more if you want a silver strip in between them? and does it hurt? also do i have to soak my hands in anything because i have this wart on the back of my thumb and i got it froze tuesday and it still sorta hurts and its puffy i was wondering if me getting my nails done would bother it...Thanks alot!Im getting fake nails tomorrow help?

But obviously, your comfortable with just washing them. I don't know about the strip though, it doesn't hurt at all..you will feel pressure on your nail when she glues them on and it sometimes hurts when she files them and if she is not very good at she can cut your cuticle and it hurts. I've seen my mom get her nails done like sooo many times.

My nail tech never had any problems with doing my nails, but once i went to a different person, and she told me about their ';nail biters set.'; In the instance where your nails may be too short- and the nails would end up lifting- They simply build you a nail, and then continue with the normal process. Don't be embarrassed- nail biting is common- and they're nail techs, so they're probably used 2 it. = D

I would not worry about what the person that does your nails says to me first of all. But I would get the fake nails even though I felt kind of silly about getting them. Well, I bite my nails and one time my mom brought me to the nail salon and we both got our nails done... My nails were really short and I was shy and kind of embarrassed... I recently just grew my nails out but before they were very short. I also bit them and wore acrylics to hide my horrible stubs. lol. My nail tech never had any problems with doing my nails, but once i went to a different person, and she told me about their ';nail biters set.'; In the instance where your nails may be too short- and the nails would end up lifting- They simply build you a nail, and then continue with the normal process. Don't be embarrassed- nail biting is common- and they're nail techs, so they're probably used 2 it. = D
the thing with if you flip your hand and you can't see ur nail is completely normal to me.

You can have beautiful long nails, use a nail gell it's brilliant, it won't harm your own nails but it will help them to grow stronger.

if you want to stop you can go to a pharmacy store, like cvs and buy one of those nailpolish for nailbiters. my sister used it and whenever she went to bite she tasted a bitter taste..and now she doesnt bite anymore ;-)

I have found the best cure is to apply acrylic artificial nails. I do my own for a fraction of the cost at a beautician. The nails are so hard you cant bite them, tear them or chew them even if you want to. It particularily worked well for me on my toe nails as I was always picking at them until they bled. Terrible habit but I could only stop after I put the nails on the top. The added bonus is you get great looking nails as well! I hope this helps you - I reckon its worth a try

At some drug stores, you can find a bitter substance that you put on your fingernails that tastes horrible, so you won't try and bite them. Also, tie string around your finger so that every time you look at your hands, you'll see that string and remember not to bite your nails.
Depending on your personality and gender there are plenty of ways to stop. For instance, get your nails done with acrylic, you will end up being more focused on them looking good so you wont want to bite them. Or you could pick up another habit, not neccessarily a bad one, but one that you can do when you feel the urge to bite your nails. I told my friend to carry a paper clip or a rubberband with her everywhere she goes. So every time she has the urge to chew her nails, instead she will fondle with the paper clip.

Get them painted in a nice polish. You'll resist biting. And if you do, you'll have flakes on ur lips
Dip ur fingers in something yucky tasting. I took a cotton ball, rubbed them with nail polish remover. Other good ones are chilli peppers, garlic (yucky smelling).
Cut them short. So you want to bite but no nails to bite.

Im planning on getting my nails done and it will be my first time what should i expect and where shoud i go?
Well i've gotten my nails done for almost four years none stop. I'll tell you what happens step by step.
1. When they first start they will wipe Acetone on your nails to take any polish off then they will file your nails with this hand-held machine.
2. They will glue on plastic nails to the tip of your fingers and then cut them to the length that you want them.
3. They will file your nails again with that same machine to that they can blend the plastic tip to your real nails.
4. They will brush this medicine stuff on the nail to help avoid inffection and the they will bring out a jar of powder and a jar or liquid. They will dip a brush in the liquid and then the powder and coat you nails with it. When it hardens it will become acrylic.
5. They will file your nails again for the final time and then tell you to go wash off the dust in the sink that is normally located in the rear of the building.
6. As you are walkin back you are now welcome to view the rack off polishes they should have held up on a wall somewhere. After you have picked up a color go back to your seat. tell them what you would like for them to do ( French manicure, Painted tips, Full nail color, designs, rhinstones etc.) pay them and they will begin.
7. After your done they will either tell you to stay there and they will give you a mini fan that you can hold your hand in front of or they will move you to a table that has a light coming from underneth it that helps your nails dry faster.
8. After about ten minutes of drying you are finally ready to go.
This whole prosses takes about 30-45 minutes depending on how crowded it is and how fast they go. Your nails will feel a little different but you'll adjust quickly. Go to a place where one of your friends have already been that way you can view what there nails look like and hear about there experiance.
